How do we awaken?
This is a process of letting go and opening. The letting go is founded in a cultivated willingness to release attachment to the beliefs and ideas that you have embraced as your identity. It is essential that you cultivate a core understanding that you are not your thoughts. Nor are you what you do. Nor are you your physical presence. You are the spark of life that is the constant behind all of these expressions.
To awaken is to connect to this essential self, to have a sequence of moments in which the masks and veils fall away to reveal the brilliance of the light that you are, the timeless self, the life energy that propels every moment of experience in your physical manifestation.
First glimmers of this awakening can be achieved by refining your focus. Notice your breath. There is no need to control it or to change it; simply notice it. As you become aware of the breath flowing in and out of your lungs, allow yourself to wonder, who it is that is breathing that breath. The body has an intelligence of it’s own. Whether you concentrate on your breath or not, your body continues to breathe. Who is the you that is watching your breath? Who is the you that can look at the you watching your breath; that can engage in the question at all?
Use your breath as the point of entry. Use your breath to infuse yourself with the energy of love. Focus your breath to the various energy centers of your body and breath in the energy of Love. You may find that representing this energy as a sound or a color improves your ability to connect to the energy. This is all an exercise in raising your frequency, in altering the fundamental energetic structure of your physical form.
Each connection that you make with this energy strengthens your ability to connect more deeply. Each instance of practice creates a greater opening and invitation for that energy to flow to you and through you. With each moment of practice you move yourself closer to the moment of awakening.
